A Journal of Progress

Meet Melisa

Mother, Photographer, Hostess - Hero

Melisa Chandler is a superhero living as a mild-mannered mini-horse Mom in the Tonto National Forest just North of Payson, Arizona.  I'm Tim - Melisa's husband and bumbling side-kick.

If you've found this site you may know Melisa as a relative, friend, business partner, BNB guest, visitor to Rim Country who we've met at events, or perhaps you're one of Melisa's many clients from over 30 years in photography and hospitality.

What you may not know - or are just finding out - is that Melisa was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  Faced with evil, our daring superheroine fights.

We thank you for allowing us to update you all on the details of this journey here, as per Melisa's attitude and instruction we will not shy from this menace.  The outpouring of support has been truly amazing, and we sincerely love and appreciate you all for joining forces with us.

Closure 5/21/23:

Melisa passed away in her living room in Whispering Pines on 5/21/23.  In her final days she was visited and surrounded by old friends, her extended family, children and husband.

See the Latest Updates for details around the sudden turns that took us through the last month-and-a-half of her life... and the spectacular choices she made as she neared her final hours.  She will be missed more than words could ever express.

How we respond to adversity makes all the difference in life.

We believe our minds heavily impact our reality, and that positive attitudes are key to success. We're looking for positive quotes and thoughts from friends we can post/share here throughout this journey.

"Don't be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart."

- Roy Bennett

"If a problem can be solved,
What reason is there to be upset?
If there is no possible solution,
What use is there in being sad?"

- Shantideva

"Be cautious with what you feed your mind and soul. Fuel yourself with positivity and let that fuel propel you into positive action."

- Steve Maraboli
